JOB DESCRIPTION
In this role, you and the team you lead will protect and enhance the reputation of COUNTRY Financial through communications. You’ll work with executive leadership and business partners across the organization to plan, write, and deliver communications for internal and external audiences. You’ll help ensure communications align with the COUNTRY Vision, Mission, Objectives, Values, Enterprise Strategy and Corporate Brand. You’ll also ensure the success of the function by selecting, developing and evaluating team members and implementing metrics to measure the effectiveness of communications the team delivers.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based out of our corporate offices in Bloomington, IL.
How does a Corporate Communications Manager make an impact?
- Directs and oversees development and distribution of internal or external communications, ensuring strategic, consistent and clear messages are shared through appropriate channels.
- Develops guidelines for style and content.
- Works closely with client advocacy, marketing, and legal stakeholders to support effective external audience messaging and management of public image.
- Uses in-depth knowledge of organization and corporate efforts to integrate, and appropriately time, communications.
- Understands and represents audience and stakeholder views, interdependencies and needs, using this knowledge to craft messages, programs and work that leads to stakeholder understanding and comprehension.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with executive leadership and works closely with business leaders across the organization to plan and deliver effective internal or external communications.
- Manages the implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and activities in assigned areas. Maintains current contact information for all employees in applicable areas and communicates with non-recovery employees during a disaster.
- Fosters a positive environment where all team members are motivated and committed to contribute their best work.
- Creates a safe environment where team members are supported to make decisions and take action to achieve goals and objectives.
- Takes personal responsibility for making tough decisions, meeting commitments and adapting to ensure expected results are achieved.
- Assumes responsibility for implementing practices to integrate diversity, equity and inclusion while holding self and others accountable.
Do you have what we’re looking for?
- Demonstrate excellent writing and editing skills for crafting clear and effective messages.
- Have a proven track-record of planning and delivering effective and timely communication strategies and tactics that achieve desired results.
- Be proficient in a variety of internal and external communication tactics and channels such as intranets and news sites, email memos, videos, media, social media, photography, visuals, speechwriting, and presentations.
- Demonstrate excellent consulting skills and the ability to lead others through active listening, influencing, relationship building, and providing clear communication.
- Must be extremely organized and comfortable continuing to plan and work when there’s ambiguity.
- This is a leadership role, which typically requires 8+ years of corporate communications, crisis communications, reputation management, media, or public relations experience, including two years of management experience.
