Ragan writer fondly remembers Tony Snow
Tony Snow, former press secretary to George Bush, and former chief speechwriter to George H.W. Bush, died last week at the ridiculously young age of 53. I met Tony just a few times when I was editor of Ragan’s Speechwriter’s Newsletter. But though I’m sure he hadn’t thought of me in years, I always considered him sort of an old friend. He was honest and unpretentious, willing to share his thoughts and opinions openly, and generous with his time. I’m proud of being able to say we were acquaintances (My father got a kick out of telling people I spoke with him), and although I never expected to talk to him again, I have to say I’ll miss him.
