User feedback shaped concepts for new site

To communicate how its work helps to positively change the lives of women and girls in need and to better serve its members, Soroptimist International of the Americas made some dramatic changes to its Web presence.

What does Soroptimist do?

The Philadelphia-based nonprofit provides educational and employment resources for women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.

Last fall, the nonprofit redesigned its Web site and immediately dropped a password-protected firewall that made it difficult for its more than 40,000 members worldwide to access vital program materials. It also launched a microsite, LiveYourDreamCampaign.org, which features webisodes that tell the stories of how the organization has helped bring about positive change in the lives of women and girls in need.

The result? The nonprofit’s members find it easier to do their important work, the microsite’s webisodes have been recognized with a Telly Award, and donations are up.
