Report: 5 telling data points about global employee engagement
The report from Gallup recommends that employers become more sophisticated in their understanding of employee well-being and its impact on the bottom line.
Global employee engagement dropped 2% last year after a decade of gains, according to Gallup’s “State of the Global Workplace: 2021 Report.”
However, despite a year of pandemic, the numbers say that more employees report they are thriving today than those before the health crisis triggered global turmoil and a remote work transformation. About 30% of employees reported as thriving in 2019 while that number was up to 32% in 2020.
One of the reasons for this remarkable resilience seems to be that workers never lost hope during the pandemic. The report notes that even though immediate impact from the pandemic caused significant worry, most respondents said they could see a brighter future five years down the line.
