Report: Employees say they’re not feeling ‘heard’ on wellness concerns
In a new report on the voice of the employee, 75% of workers said they don’t feel understood or listened to on issues like benefits, safety and time-off requests.
As an employer, you likely have an engagement and communication problem, according to a new report from Workforce Institute.
While a global average shows that 4 in 5 employees feel heard in the workplace, the places where they don’t feel heard serves to indicate why workplace wellness and employee culture initiatives have stalled in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. On some important issues, employees are likely to say they haven’t been heard and historically marginalized groups are likely to report a failure to engage, too.
According to the report, 86% of employees say they are not heard equally or fairly, indicating that structural inequality plays a big role in how employees feel heard and valued in the workplace. Almost half (47%) of workers say that the voices of the underrepresented in their workplace aren’t being represented.
