Report: Employees report declining confidence in leadership’s commitment to their well-being
Data from Gallup shows that the gains made by organizations in their response to the global pandemic are wearing off as employees are asked to return to the office.
The global pandemic has created an opportunity for business leaders. Employers are seen as a top trusted resource according to the spring update in the 2021 Edelman Trust Barometer—yet that trust might be slipping.
As employees looked to their companies for updates and guidance during the heavy disruption of the COVID-19 crisis, trust was high for leaders who reacted swiftly and invested in employee well-being and flexibility. Now, fewer workers are feeling that their boss is still invested in employee wellness.
That metric—the number of employees who feel that their employer is invested in their well-being—has lost 13 percentage points since last Spring, according to Gallup. That’s a big drop, and it could be tied to efforts to bring workers back to the office along with a growing disconnect between leaders and workers on the future of remote work and flextime arrangements.
