One communicator. 52 Flip videos. 52 weeks
How one hospital communicator turned this ambitious challenge into a manageable project.
Your hospital has probably produced a Flip video or two.
But do you think you could shoot, edit and produce 52 videos in a year?
A Texas hospital is setting out to do just that with “52 to a Healthier You.” This is a yearlong video series by Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford. Jennifer Gordon Erickson, its senior public relations specialist, posts a healthful video tip each Monday morning to a variety of social media outlets.
But how can one person produce 52 videos on her own—and still deal with the daily tasks of a health-care communicator?
“It’s not that daunting if you break it up,” Erickson says. “If you do nine videos at a time, you only have to shoot six times each year. Each segment of nine videos takes about five hours.”
The videos feature hospital employees, physicians, fitness trainers and medical staff. The videos can be found here: YouTube, the hospital’s blog, Facebook and through Erickson’s Twitter feed. Erickson doesn’t have a view count for each video, but she believes Facebook has driven the most traffic so far.
