How to start mapping out your culture comms strategy
Tips for designing your roadmap while aligning holistically with partners and advocates.
During this winter’s Employee Communications 101 Conference, Bloomberg Head of Culture Communications Monica Bertran and Cargill Corporate Responsibility and Social Sustainability Manager Cecilia Tejeda unpacked how they cultivate internal culture using initiatives grounded in diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) as a foundation.
Here’s what we learned.
Designing your roadmap
After explaining how rapidly the CSR and ESG disciplines have evolved over the past decade-plus, Tejeda said that new and emerging developments in these fields will need to be tracked by communicators tasked with working in these areas.
“How will this be impacted by things that are happening in the United States, or on a global level?” Tejeda asked, citing the Supreme Court’s affirmative action ban last year or the California Climate Accountability Package (last week, the SEC approved landmark emissions reporting requirements for large companies, too).
“What does this mean for our companies?” she asked attendees. “WE have to have further clarity on the roll. Understanding that things are going to evolve even quicker and how are function is going to tackle those goals and be assertive on delivering that message.”
