How to master thought leadership writing
What does it take to be an SME whisperer?
Executives and thought leaders are often supported behind the scenes by content and communications leads who guide them to success, providing them with talking points and context and often ghostwriting on their behalf.
During Ragan’s Writing and Content Creation Conference last month, Rhea Wessel, author of “Write Like a Thought Leader” and founder of the Institute of Thought Leadership, shared her tips.
Here’s what we learned.
Wessel began by breaking down her three steps to effective thought leadership writing — find it, frame it and flesh it out.
“Framing your articles, framing the story, getting the right angle is often the biggest problem that subject matter experts have,” she said, recommending communicators take a journalistic angle and focus on some tried and true story formats.
