How communicators assist the evolution of employee culture
From recognizing behaviors to crafting culture-first strategies, members of Ragan’s Communications Leadership Council explain how it’s done.
Rare are the times when senior communications leaders have an honest, frank conversation about employee culture in public. Rarer, still, is the chance to hear two members of Ragan’s Communications Leadership Council speak about culture onstage at an event beyond our member retreats.
But such a panel took place last fall during Ragan’s Future of Communications Conference when council members Brian K. Parker, vice president of corporate communications at Navy Federal Credit Union, and Brandi Anstine, chief branding officer at HealthLinc, participated in a lively conversation about employee culture moderated by Ragan’s Chief Growth Officer and Head of Councils Mary Buhay.
“When we look at that time continuum where we’re plotting workplace culture, it feels like the last two-three years was the big bang,” said Buhay. “But I guarantee you that we’re not just now crawling out of the primordial ooze, waiting to evolve. We’ve catapulted ourselves well ahead. This is the future of comms, and we’ve learned a ton.”
“Probably too much,” joked Anstine. “More than we wanted to, right?”
