New research provides tantalizing clues toward unlocking this elusive, yet essential, barometer of progress and productivity.
“Engagement” had a good run as the metric companies pursued in the name of productivity. Today, employee happiness is the gold standard.
But how can a workplace raise a metric that’s so subjective and complex? The best we can do is follow the data.
To that end, Blind recently asked its users a simple question: “Are you happy at your current workplace?”
More than 12,000 employees from some of the largest companies in the U.S. responded. The top 15 companies earning the highest scores from its workers were these.

What do these top-performing companies have in common? An Indeed employee shared, “Even in the middle of the pandemic, leadership takes its time to provide timely updates and remains quite transparent. Freedom exists to work on projects that you decide to pursue, with the right amount of oversight and coaching. Work and life are incredibly balanced. Empathy is strong among most people.”
