CareFirst discloses cyberattack with statement and video on its website
Some 1.1 million past and present customers of the health insurer are affected by the breach, which occurred last June. The Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate’s Twitter feed, however, offers no mention of the hack.
If you looked at the Twitter stream of @CareFirst on Wednesday afternoon, it appeared to be business as usual.
It was #WellnessWednesday, and there was a post about safe eyesight practices and computer use.
But not all was well at CareFirst.
A company press release on GlobeNewsWire offers details about the breach at CareFirst, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. It reads, in part:
