He may not be the typical CEO, but he is the CEO of Bob Evans Farms. Steve Davis started the blog soon after he took over the 50,000-employee restaurant chain in 2006.
“Steve was looking for a way to touch all of our employees, in the field and in the corporate office, so that all employees could have daily contact with him, learn what he was doing for the company each day, and get his insights on the business,” said Jamie Chabra, the former Web site administrator who helped Davis launch the blog. Chabra is now the director of marketing and communications for the Columbus Chamber of Commerce.
Davis uses the blog to facilitate extended conversations between himself, Bob Evans employees and Bob Evans customers. “Whenever he visits a location he tries to speak with as many customers and employees as he can, and then the blog enables him to extend that conversation after he leaves, and keep in contact with as many employees as possible,” Chabra said.
