Bloggers who ‘lifestream’ take technology too far
Shortening communication isn’t a move in the right direction, claims this consultant.
Steve Rubel, Shel Holtz and Robert Scoble are big aficionados of the “lifestream.” They utilize FriendFeed, Twitter and Posterous to have more dialogue but less context with their readers.
I could care less. I’m far more interested in reading their fleshed out, comprehensive and interesting blog posts. This is a classic example of people getting too caught up in technology and what it can do for them.
Heck, my generation has pioneered the lifestream. Our whole lives are online and everything that we do is captured and recorded in one form or another. However, are we envied? Looked up at as being innovators? No. We are regarded as a generation of narcissists with A.D.D.
My question: Why is it seen as innovative when influential bloggers move to lifestreams as exclusive means of communication? What makes it different then previous methods of short form? Or is the difference non-existent?
