Bill Clinton named ‘Father of the Year’

Bill Clinton has been called many things, but Father of the Year is a first. The former president was awarded that title by the National Father’s Day Committee, an entity of the Father’s Day Council, on Tuesday at a fundraiser on behalf of Save the Children. Father’s Day is this Sunday.

Clinton said that although there are “a million people who are equally or more deserving” of the award, “you could never have picked anyone happier, because seeing my daughter still makes me happier than anything else in the world.”

The committee honors “contemporary lifestyle leaders of our culture whose lives are dedicated to family, citizenship, charity, civility, responsibility and reverence.” Previous winners include Douglas MacArthur, Yogi Berra, Henry Fonda, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and Dick Van Dyke.
