Connect. Create. Collaborate. Does your organization’s intranet allow you to do all of this and more?

Ragan’s 2018 Intranet Awards is searching for organizations that spare no expense on this essential employee communications tool. We can’t wait to see your best work in intranet content, collaboration, innovation and design.

Share how your intranet transformed your organization’s culture, started important discussions and made day-to-day tasks easier. We’re looking for intranets that are home to great content, useful features and impressive design. How does your intranet keep your employees informed and excited about your organization? How did your revamped intranet spur changes that kick-started productivity and creativity for your organization or client?

We have a variety of categories covering every corner of your intranet: launch or relaunch, video content, gamification, design, employee engagement and more. Don’t forget the grand prize category for the best overall intranet.

Check out the categories, eligibility requirements and pricing structure, and read how to enter below.

Want to know how your intranet measures up to the very best? See last year’s winners here.

CATEGORIES

CONTENT

 Article

Corporate articles can be a bore, but yours kept people from scrolling past. The article you published on your intranet was a great example of brand storytelling. You drove traffic to the content with a clickable headline, attention-grabbing images and an interesting story. Did you write an employee profile? Share important organization or industry news? Reveal information about an exciting new product launch or partnership? We want to know more. Share your article, metrics and any discussions that it sparked.

 Blog

Does your CEO, a frontline employee, or a communications team member write an excellent blog that’s original, insightful or inspiring? Share the focus of your blog and its responses. Did you recently undergo a content strategy refresh? How did that affect traffic and engagement? Does your blog share employee experiences, organizational news or a balance of both? Show us your results and the popularity of the blog on your intranet.

 *NEW!* Instructional or Educational Content

Your intranet is hub for information. What instructional or educational resources have you provided for employees? Does your intranet provide important benefits information, a detailed organizational history, interactive videos or a fun and personable employee directory? Share content that teaches employees about important processes, even if it’s specific to their department. We want to see content and resources that are engaging and useful. Don’t forget to include metrics and employee feedback.

 *NEW!* Interactive Content

In the quest for more engagement, you added interactive elements to your intranet. Why were these successful and engaging for your employees? We want to see polls, surveys, discussion forums, quizzes and more. Why did these work to create a sense of community and connection on your intranet?

 Video

How did you use intranet videos to enhance your employee communications? Was it an emotional ad, a 30-second clip, a media reel or a video testimonial? Give us the story behind the video. Tell us about its conception, growth, message and how it succeeded.

 *NEW!* Visual Storytelling

What kinds of visual content call your intranet home? Tell us how you make use of visual elements for internal storytelling. Did you create a photo series to show off your new international office? Maybe a series of infographics illustrated a new internal process change for employees. Tell us how you told internal stories on your intranet with the help of visuals like photos, infographics, GIFs and more.

COLLABORATION & INNOVATION

 Employee Engagement

Embracing a digital workspace turned your dispersed or uninterested workforce into an inspired and engaged crew. Your intranet booms with ideas, discussion and collaboration. Your internal landscape is littered with the rubble of destroyed silos. We want to see how your intranet made a BIG difference in your workplace—in productivity, collaboration and employee satisfaction.

 Employee Recognition

Your intranet is a hub for essential information, but the extras are what make it special. How did you use your intranet as a space to celebrate your employees’ accomplishments? Do managers make off-the-cuff announcements to spotlight a team member’s great work? Can employees nominate their peers? What rewards or accolades do they receive? How has this increased engagement on your organization’s intranet? Share all the details with us.

 *NEW!* Gamification

The elements of gamification can motivate employees to engage with your content—and with each other—on your intranet. Tell us what gamified features were most successful on your platform. We want to know your strategy and how employees responded to it.

 Internal Social Network

Internal social networking and social media aren’t just for fun. Did you use a social intranet to communicate with your employees—both in-house and remote—to discuss internal projects and initiatives, connect workers and boost engagement? How have you used internal social networking or social media through your intranet? How has it created a happier and more involved, productive workplace? What was your goal? How did you achieve it? We welcome links, screenshots and feedback.

 Launch or Relaunch

The origin story of your intranet matters to us. Why did you decide to launch your intranet? What pain points were you hoping it would address for your team? Maybe your current intranet wasn’t meeting the goals you originally set for it, and a relaunch was in order. How did you train employees on the new intranet? What was the feedback? If this is a relaunch, please include documentation (numerous screenshots) of the previous site, and show us before-and-after images. If you have the figures, what effect did your new intranet or relaunch have on employee engagement?

 Mobile Integration

For today’s on-the-go employee, mobile access is a must. How did you ensure that your intranet was accessible and usable for your dispersed workforce? We want to see how mobile integration increased engagement and intranet use. Share how you made your intranet accessible for multiple devices. Put your modern intranet transformation on display.

 Use for Human Resources

Does your intranet serve as the voice of your HR department? How do you easily and creatively share information on benefits enrollment, wellness programs, policies, procedures and employee celebrations (accolades, birthdays, promotions)? Do you use gamification to interact with employees to make benefits enrollment painless? How? What improvements have the HR department seen because of your efforts? What are the results?

DESIGN

 Design

Without functional and attractive design, your intranet will be a desolate digital wasteland. People want to see a beautifully designed, easy-to-navigate site. How was your design a hit with employees? What makes your layout so effective and popular? How do you use color and white space? How have you simplified your intranet design to get more click-thrus and increase the average time spent there? How does your design engage employees? How efficient is it?

 Intranet Usability

What features make your intranet special? How did you create a truly efficient and usable intranet for employees? What tools, layout and design make it easy and enjoyable to use every day? Share your goals for intranet usability and tell us how you executed them. We want to see screenshots and evidence of how your intranet vastly improved employee efficiency.

 Personalized Experience

Your employees are a diverse and unique bunch. You wanted your intranet to reflect that. Rather than asking them to log on to the same boring and identical site, you created a personalized intranet experience that’s right for each employee’s preferences and day-to-day tasks. Share your one-of-a-kind intranet features with us. Tell us how switching to a customizable model led to higher levels of engagement, intranet usage and productivity. Before-and-after shots of your intranet will help to seal the deal.

GRAND PRIZE

 Best Overall Intranet

Creativity. Collaboration. Connection. What was your strategy when you pulled it all together? How does your intranet set the tone for your organization, empower and engage employees, reduce email and influence your organization’s culture? Tell us how and why it makes your staff more productive, collaborative, confident and cheerful. Share screenshots, testimonials and results. Tell us how your intranet made your organization better.
