As Sandy hits, emergency officials manage expectations

That was what Atlantic City Public Safety Director Willie Glass told the Associated Press Monday as Hurricane Sandy walloped the Jersey Shore resort and the much of the East Coast.

To look at Atlantic City’s website, however, it was difficult to tell that anything was really happening beyond heavy rain and wind indicated in a weather widget near the top.

That Atlantic City website was the exception to the rule, however, as city, state and federal agencies along the Eastern Seaboard aimed to inform residents of what to do and what to expect as the hurricane inched closer.
