Apple issues mea culpa in ‘layoff’ snafu
The company apologizes after changing its mind on a new staffing plan that reduced hours and sparked layoff rumors.
So its recent apology about a staffing snafu drew widespread media coverage—and surprise from communicators.
The mea culpa came after speculation that the technology giant was laying off workers as part of a new store staffing plan, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“We recently implemented some changes in retail staffing,” Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet said last week in a statement to several media. “Making these changes was a mistake, and the changes are being reversed. Our employees are our most important asset and the ones who provide the world-class service our customers deserve.”
Huguet did not respond to a call and email from Ragan.com.
Reluctant to admit mistakes?
