ESPN reporter suspended over video of angry exchange
What looks like security camera footage at a towing company shows reporter Britt McHenry insulting clerks over their teeth, weight and education. She apologized.
If you’re ever curious about whether you’re being recorded in public, here’s further proof that yes, you are.
ESPN has suspended reporter Britt McHenry over a leaked video in which she has an angry exchange with clerks at a towing company. In the video, McHenry insults the clerks for their weight, the state of their teeth and their education.
Specifically, she says, “Maybe if I was missing some teeth they would hire me here,” and, “Lose some weight, baby girl,” among other things.
Here’s the video. Be warned: There is some not-safe-for-work language.
After the video went public, McHenry issued this apology via Twitter on Thursday:
In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things. As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake.
