Nonstop interaction generates employee engagement
Put your internal publication to work focusing on employees.
Even the most strategic of business stories usually incorporates at least one employee’s related story. But in addition, there are loads of contests (share your biggest mistake made at Walgreens, for instance), ways to share feedback (“Inquiring minds get answers” forms) and surveys (both one-question quickies and lengthy ones)—all of which usually end up with some employees getting their names and photos in the magazine.
Also excellent is the annual Q&A issue (published in the January/February edition) in which editors (with the help of company leaders) answer tough questions from employees— everything from why employees have to work on Christmas to why the company doesn’t have lower prescription co-pays. Basically, any question that seems to be a concern for a group of employees will get answered.
