We know what you’re thinking: a refresher course on blogs? Aren’t they too new a vehicle to warrant a “refresher course?”
It does seem a little strange to do a refresher course for a vehicle many communicators haven’t even started using yet … but the fact is, blogs have been around for more than five years!
So a refresher course is needed—especially as companies start getting involved with Web 2.0 and start using the new tools.
So if you’ve been blogging for a while, this will serve as a check-up to see if you’re doing it right; if you’re just thinking about jumping on the blogwagon now, below you’ll find advice on how to do it right!
Blogs: Personal diaries … about the business
Blog is short for Web log. That’s log as in ship’s log, which is where the captain of the ship used to record his daily observations. Web log became weblog, which got shortened to blog.
Knowing the history of the word is important, because blogs are supposed to be like ship’s logs … in other words, a blog is a diary. Which means several things:
