TED conference yields stimulating videos; Intel CEO vows to invest in U.S.; the scolding approach to speech-giving

TED talks: The TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) conference just wrapped up, with some of the most engaging and enlightening presentations posted at the TED Talks Web site. One of the most viewed and highly rated videos: Bill Gates releasing a containerful of mosquitoes on stage while talking about eradicating malaria, saying, “There’s no reason only poor people should have the experience.”

Eight bankers on the grill, coming up: Top banking CEOs showed up before a House committee last week to get grilled by members of Congress. The bankers used their opening speeches to defend their use of bailout money. Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit deviated from his prepared speech to address public criticism of Citibank’s planned delivery of a $50 million corporate jet. “I get the new reality,” said Pandit.
