Sunrise Bank’s impact report demonstrates the creativity possible with print
Interactive printed report innovated while conveying results of bank’s CSR efforts.
Sunrise Banks is a financial institution on a mission. The organization is a Community Development Financial Institution, a Certified B Corporation, and Public Benefit Corporation and a member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values. The organization is committed to creating positive social, community, and environmental impact. Sunrise has produced annual “impact reports” to showcase these efforts, but by outdoing itself in its 2018 report, Sunrise has earned first place in the “Reports” category of PR Daily’s Corporate Social Responsibility Awards.
The report is a stunning example of the continued relevance of print, surprising readers with the turn of every card-stock page. Think of “interactivity” and you think of the digital space, but this print report is highly interactive with material in pockets, pages that expand into spreads, images revealed by pulling back tabs and the unexpected inclusion of a vellum page.
Using big, bold graphics, the report highlights philanthropic and community-minded projects and events that support Sunrise’s mission. For instance, Sunrise commits to giving a minimum of 2% of net income through corporate donations and sponsorships.
The report was distributed to customers, partners and at public events and meetings throughout the year; a digital version was also made available in a repository of each year’s report. For 2018, the communications team also produced an unboxing video shared on YouTube and Sunrise’s social media channels; it stars the bank’s CEO.
For this brilliant example of the relevance of print in communications, congratulations to the team of Rebecca Hoeft, Hailey Lewis, Ashley Cooper, Brian Distad, Jake Schild, Rachel Kothe, Fluence Creative and Reunion Road Printing.
