BBVA Compass rolls out engaging employee intranet
The national financial institution banks on crisp writing and varied format to inform and involve its workforce.
With 11,000 employees in seven states and a parent company in Spain, BBVA Compass uses its intranet as a unifying site providing local, national, and international company news and up-to-the-minute reporting on economic and industry trends. Updated four times per day, the site is a trusted go-to source for crucial information and also builds camaraderie among its thousands of employees by focusing on employee news and soliciting employee opinion through weekly polls on banking and other topics. Each day features five staff-written “top stories” that rotate at the top of the home page complete with visuals, a headline, and a blurb. Video clips abound, and the format is kept vibrant with a mix of Q&As, human interest stories, and first-person pieces.
Company statistics demonstrate that the intranet is well utilized and fills a need. One-third of BBVA’s employees read a story daily, and 76 percent view one story per week. The intranet’s videos receive 7,838 views per month. BBVA wins the prize for Best Intranet in PR Daily’s 2014 Digital Awards for providing an array of timely company and industry news to a large and geographically diverse employee base using multifaceted story formats.
Congratulations go out to contributing staff members Thaddeus Herrick, Christina Anderson, Docia Baldridge, Candice Castillo, Kevin Cunningham, Teresa Diaz, Christy Emmott, Ralph Evans, Brittany Fish, Michelle Kelley, Jena Moreno, Michelle Pyner, and Kimberly Tabor.
