Champion Technologies encourages employees to make a change in their everyday behavior

The company’s winning article had a specific goal and met its objective, ramping up employee awareness of its knowledge-sharing networks.

One World,

Champion Technologies, a global chemical company, wanted to tell its employees about its newest knowledge-sharing networks.

The company takes top honors in the Best News Article (Print or Electronic) category of Ragan’s 2012 Employee Communication Awards because it shifted company culture and let people know about the new tool, with a friendly, easy-to-read article.

Only a handful of the 3,000 employees in more than 50 countries knew about “CTIKnow,” the knowledge-sharing networks. The majority of employees didn’t know about it or didn’t know how to use it.

The article’s goal was to “demystify the online program” and let people know that CTIKnow was a great way to “share information, connect globally, and meet our daily challenges,” according to the entry.

It did this by telling a personal story about how two employees, Katherine Turner and Daniel Wilkerson, use the knowledge-sharing networks. Their story was a way to help employees connect to the program and understand how it could help them.

When the story was published in March 2012, the program had about 500 members and 200 discussion threads in two available networks. Now, there are more than 2,000 members and almost a dozen networks online.

“The company’s vision of CTIKnow becoming a daily, habitual tool has become a reality and is the frequent site for global collaboration,” according to the entry.
