The All England Club is hosting the best tennis players in the world as they vie to become the 2018 Wimbledon champion.
The gentlemen’s side will be missing the tournament’s most decorated player, Roger Federer. For only the third time at a major tournament, he lost a match after winning the first two sets.
The man who defeated Federer, South Africa’s Kevin Anderson, has reached his first-ever Wimbledon semifinal and will face America’s John Isner, who is also making his first appearance in a Wimbledon semifinal match.
Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, who’s won three Wimbledon titles, will go head-to-head with Spain’s Rafael Nadal, who’s got two Wimbledon titles of his own.
On the ladies’ side, Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko will take on Angelique Kerber of Germany, each of whom is seeking her first Wimbledon title. In the other semifinal match, American Serena Williams will face Germany’s Julia Görges. Neither Ostapenko nor Görges has competed in a Wimbledon final, whereas Williams is a seven-time champion and Kerber was runner-up in 2016, losing to Williams.
