The quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup begins tonight.
When the puck drops, many will drop what they’re doing to tune in to the National Hockey League’s 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The regular season brought plenty of surprises—among them the success of the expansion Las Vegas Golden Knights, who won their division.
The Nashville Predators finished the season with the league’s best record, and the Pittsburgh Penguins finished second in their division, setting up a potential rematch between last year’s Stanley Cup Finals contenders.
The NHL would be happy to repeat—or surpass—last year’s record-setting Stanley Cup Final viewership numbers, too.
In a press release, NBC Sports Group shared that it was the highest-viewed final ever that didn’t include an “Original Six” team—that is, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Montreal, New York Rangers or Toronto. It also showed a large uptick in viewers from the previous postseason.
