Residents of some states put a little more elbow grease into their work.
At least, that’s the gist of WalletHub‘s recently announced list of “2019 Hardest-Working States in America.”
That’s not to say that those employed in the lower-ranked states are lazy; it’s just that employees in the top-ranked states go the extra, extra mile.
Sometimes these workers aren’t even being compensated for their labor, as one of the key factors considered was the number of annual volunteer hours per resident. (Utah and Oregon tied for the top spot in this category, FYI.)
Overall, 10 key factors were considered when compiling the list, including: fewest leisurely hours spent per day, employment rate, share of workers with multiple jobs and highest average workweek hours. See the complete methodology here.
North Dakotans should be darned proud of themselves, as they topped the list of hardest-working states in America. Employees in the state earned a total score of 71.41, based on all factors considered.
